The gray and white trend from a native Nashville interior designer
Gray and white have been the hot trend for several years now in the interior design world. Now, neutrals are trending towards warmer grays like ‘greige’ (grey and beige combined).
Some of the most popular colors are from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore – the favorite paint companies of the majority of Nashville painters!
My personal favorite right now is Gossamer Veil, SW9165 from Sherwin Williams.
It is the perfect blend of ‘greige’ that stays trendy!
Accent colors like blues in all hues and pastel colors in petal pink, seafoam, and peaches are always a nice addition in with the neutrals. Don’t be afraid of the names! Polished brass is back in too but all of these colors or finishes are fresh, airy, and clean, not at all the same as what you may associate with the trends of the 80’s and 90’s! Don’t be afraid!! I vote for a name change 👍🏻
We are even now seeing navy blue islands in white or off white, and even pastel cabinets. Creamier whites instead of stark whites and warmer grays instead of cold, dense gray with pastel accents are trending.
Contrary to the “it” city reputation that Nashville now has, we typically have been several years behind the curve in design with trends catching on late and Nashville natives wanting to hold on to their traditions. Newcomers are bringing in the new and trends are changing. A design trend usually will be really hot for about 5 years and will stick around for 7-10 years, never totally changing but being added to, until the new and hot things hit for the next decade.
