Bright white kitchens have been trendy for the past few years. I’m here to tell you that is s-l-o-w-l-y trending out. Trends don’t just stop, new accents are added in one or two at a time and some things trend out until the look changes completely. Don’t worry if you have your bright beautiful white kitchen already and don’t want to do a major overhaul, this is still a great look! You can add to and change just a thing or two to update it now without too much expense. Nashville design doesn’t tend to move very fast. You will start to see the following trends in magazines and on Pinterest if you haven’t already.
Painted accent islands have been around for a while only temporarily trending to all white. If you’ve got your white kitchen and would like to make a change just paint the island dark blue or dark green or a mixture of both, If you do not want to go that bold you may use any color blue, blue/green, pastel green. Also I’ve seen a lot of natural pine on islands, especially in the more beachy areas.
Faucets, hardware, and lighting can be changed to update your kitchen. Gold is no longer old! Bare in mind that this is not your 1980’s brass although it for some reason is named the same which scares many people away from it. Gold, brass, polished brass, satin gold or satin brass and even burnished or polished nickel which has a slight warm golden hue to it are some popular “new” finishes in metal. Don’t be scared to rid of the oil rubbed bronze.

Lighting can add a lot to a kitchen for task as well as adding to the decor. Light fixtures over the island have gone from 2- 3 small pendant lights to 2 small chandeliers or lanterns. In gold of course! This is in addition to the recessed room lighting and over/under cabinet lights that really don’t show up but allow your kitchen to work properly. Let your lights shine with these decorative fixtures!

Kitchen tops need to be durable as well as beautiful! White marble is still a staple in kitchens. If you don’t want the maintenance of marble because it is porous and scratches easily Quartz is a wonderful option! It doesn’t have as much interest in the vein patterns but it will not stain like marble. Granite is generally not being used a lot currently unless you can find a very light color granite with more movement than just the mineral spots.
